NoSQL: 'Not Only SQL' and the Spring Data project
Hello
NoSQL, as interpreted by SpringSource, stands for 'Not Only SQL' rather than 'No SQL'! I became aware of this interpretation while attending SpringOne2GX 2001 in Chicago.
Although this new forum is called NoSQL, the related project at SpringSource is called 'Spring Data': http://www.springsource.org/spring-data.
This is an excerpt from the project page: "The primary goal of the Spring Data project is to make it easier to build Spring-powered applications that use new data access technologies such as non-relational databases, map-reduce frameworks, and cloud based data services.
A secondary goal is to provide additional support for relational database technologies such as Oracle RAC and convenience classes for Java generic based DAO classes. Spring Data is an umbrella open source project which contains many subprojects that are specific to a given datastore. The projects are developed by working together with many of the companies and developers that are behind these exciting technologies."
As usual, SpringHub.com will follow this new 'Spring Data' project and share with the Spring community all related web resources.
Thanks
