Hyperic HQEE server can't find the SpringSource tc Runtime instance
Hi,
I have installed HQ server and agent using hyperic-hqee-installer-4.5-win32.zip.
Also, I have installed SpringSource tc Server Standard Edition 2.1.0.RELEASE using springsource-tc-server-standard-2.1.0.RELEASE.zip.
I have already created and started a tc Runtime instance, but the hqee-server can't find it. In hqee-server's log, I found a message like this:
2010-11-23 12:11:03,921 ERROR [Thread-30] [org.hyperic.hq.autoinventory.server.session.Autoin ventoryManagerImpl@669] Ignoring non-existent server type: SpringSource tc Runtime 6.0
org.hyperic.hq.common.NotFoundException: name not found: SpringSource tc Runtime 6.0
at org.hyperic.hq.appdef.server.session.ServerManager Impl.findServerTypeByName(ServerManagerImpl.java:7 65)
at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Nativ e Method)
Based on earlier postings on this forum, I do have verified whether my HQEE server deployment has tc server plug-in or not....I could see
C:\Program Files\server-4.5-EE\hq-engine\hq-server\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\hq-plugins\springsource-tcserver-plugin.jar
C:\Program Files\server-4.5-EE\hq-engine\hq-server\webapps\ROOT\hqu\tcserverclient
C:\Program Files\server-4.5-EE\hq-engine\hq-server\webapps\ROOT\hqu\tomcatappmgmt
C:\Program Files\server-4.5-EE\hq-engine\hq-server\webapps\ROOT\hqu\tomcatserverconfig
C:\Program Files\server-4.5-EE\hq-engine\hq-server\webapps\tomcatserverconfig.war
Could someone help? I am failing to understand what is wrong in the setup.
Thanks,
Amit

Did you have a previous version of Hyperic installed prior to this?
Can you verify that the Hyperic service you are starting is the correct one?
This error should only happen if the agent is discovering the tc Runtime and the server doesn't know anything about it that resource type. So maybe you have older version of Hyperic running?

Thanks for your reply.
Nope, I do not have any other version of Hyperic installed in this setup.
Would really appreciate your further help.
Thanks,
Amit

I have tried to reproduce this on a Win 32bit OS (XP) and have not been able to. I used every download you mentioned.
For some reason your hq-plugin is not getting picked up on the serverside.
Are you able to reinstall the server? And try again? Something might have hiccuped when installing.

My 2 cents on this is to reinstall HQ, but avoid "program files" and any other directory with spaces in it.
