jD, how you actually do sorting?
jD, how you actually do sorting?
@Fireball,
Using the db engine...
Thank you

Hi,
I'm in the same boat with the other developers on this forum that want the List page to be Sortable and also provide some Filtering to enhance the user experience, any update on the add on that was being discussed? where can I find the live demo for it?
Thanks
RK
hi delgad9, did you continue with building out this add on? where do I find your live demo?
Thanks
RK
@dudeRK,
Since the SR addon api is evolving without supporting a deprecation policy and breaking code on every iteration...
I decided not turning the PoC created into it. However, I truly believe that the foundation built is generic enough for being ported to any api whatever it might be.
Thank you for asking and B. Roogards

So Roo has still no build in support for sorting?
How can anybody use this in production? I do not know a single application which does not need sorting in resultlists.
@spgmx
Your frustration is understandable... It is precisely companies and/or individuals using SR in production -and making money with it-; would be interested in supporting independent developers like me.
I have what you want long time ago; http://pragmatikroo.blogspot.com/201...n-sorting.html What would be the incentive to give it for free while you are making money with it?
Am not looking for an argument but at it is right now there are a lot of wrinkles in what open-source companies release and what real-world companies require for "production". http://pragmatikroo.blogspot.com/201...g-forward.html
This is the gap that I would like to close with my solutions in a win-win-situation.
I am open to suggestions...

I cannot imagine that some one would pay for such a basic feature when the whole thing is open source and for free. They will just discard the whole thing or do their "own thing" by using roo but give not back developed addons to the community.
I really cannot understand why SS does not implement this feature although there are so many Jira issues and votes for them.
Doing this manually is so much work (changing finders, controllers, views), doing it in the finder/scaffoling addons would be quite easy.
Interesting, "column sorting", it is a basic feature but is "too much work"... I believe basic things that require too much work and not in the market won't be good things for selling, then.
But "sorting columns" is just one item that happens you are interested on. If you open the real-world-development-for-production closet you will be smashed with many-many-many other features that other developers are demanding and currently not in SR.
Features like Dynamic menus or turn you Web MVC app into a RIA jQuery based, same to turning into a Web mobile just to mention a few. I have a blog site dedicated on implementing such solutions.http://pragmatikroo.blogspot.com
So, the implication is that open source is good because is free regardless it doesn't include basic features and not because it solves my problem.
Ok lets wait then...
