RC1 not usable on XP and XP64 because of long path issue

DMServer RC1 is not usable on XP an XP64 because it produces too long path entries.
any chance to work around this?


Steps to reproduce:
- take a fresh copy to c:\dev
- start the server
- stop the server
- try to delete the server work dir with windows explorer

Please would you raise an issue to cover this and state what symptoms you are observing.

Have you tried using "rmdir /s /q" from a command prompt?

it is not the problem that we can not delete the path that rc1 produced.
its more a problem that the server will not work as expected in different redeploy situations triggerd by ide changes because he touched the path limit of xp.
so i will try to get some samples exceptions from our development team.

That's a known problem with certain flavours of Windows. We recommend installing dm Server into the root of a drive, e.g. at C:\. Apart from that, I'm afraid there's not much we can do about it.
