    Default Reserved Instance

If we subscribed for an EC2 private instance, is there a way to tell cloud foundry to use this instance?

    Thanks

It seems that Amazon will use the reserved instance that you bought only while processing the billing. It should not change the way to use regular EC2 instance.

So that could be a way to reduce the cost.

The main issue with reserved instances is that you purchase instances in a specific availability zone. You then have to launch instances within that availability zone (http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/faqs/#Do_I...h_my_instances). We are considering providing the ability to specify the availability zone when you launch a cluster.

    Thanks for your answer.

I believe that there is the same issue with the ESB, you have to create them in the appropriate availability zone. I am guessing that if you select a ESB in a specific availability zone then cloud foundry with start an instance in the same one. This way one could possibly use a reserved instance before you implemented this feature, no?

    Yes.
We launch deployments in the same availability zone as the EBS volume.
This would be a cunning way to use reserved instances.
