You're right. In their official FAQ, SpringSource states quite clearly that:

Currently the only path that leads to the official Spring Certification is the training path. Students need to attend a Core Spring, Rich Web Applications with Spring or Enterprise Integration with Spring Training before they can become certified. There is no other path that leads to certification at this moment.

I was not aware of this change. And it's a real shame. I would never have gotten certified had this certification policy been in place a year ago. It is this kind of policy that sticks the "elitist" label onto Spring Framework.

I too got the printout from the test center and was told I will receive the soft copy of original certificate within one week time and hardcopy in one month of time. But till now I dindn't receive soft copy itself.

Did you get your original certificate?

I agree on the change being unfortunate. They also dumbed down the exam between version 3.0 (from 2.5) making it less of a credential. Now it's mroe that you were paying attention in class.

I don't remember if I ever got another copy. I was disappointed by the exam itself and forgot about it after.

ya he is right without any specific training you can`t go for more then 60% question.. or if you wnt to that questions then may be more thn2 20% would be wrong

I am preparing for Spring Core 3.0 exam, writing on 24 Feb 2012. I see the latest certification guide (http://www.springsource.com/files/co...dy-guide_0.pdf) no longer shows REST as a requirement for the exam. Can anyone confirm this ? Do we no longer have to learn REST for the 3.0 exam ?

Just some quick feedback: I did not have any REST questions on my Spring 3.0 exam.
