Difference between Adapters and Message Handlers

Hi Im newbie to Spring Integration and I have been reading thru the documentation. Im totally confused about Adapters and Handlers. Can anyone explain whts the difference in their functionalities?? Would appreciate help

To answer your question: Adapters are meant to establish a connection between the messaging system and the outside world. Handlers (in M6) were anything that could do something with a message. In the latest HEAD the significance of Handlers has been severely reduced. Now you should view the system in three main roles: Message, Channel, Endpoint.
