It is to some extent non-blocking job. Yes, it does not block code editing but it blocks some other operations, e.g. "Run As /Run on server" - publishing to the server waits till rebuild ends. The same for CVS synchronization and so on.

I guess it is reasonable to invest some time into optimization of AOP model building.

And concerning "full rebuild" - I was under impression that all Java classes in project are rebuilt after context editing. In 2.0.5 it definitely no more so and I have no desire to revert to 2.0.4 for sole purpose to test if my impression was correct.

This step is quite an expensive operation. But it should run as a non-blocking Eclipse job in the background (separate entry in the the Progress View). You can disable the AOP model builder for projects that don't use AOP at all. That can be done in the project preferences (override workspace settings) or globally for the entire workspace.



What do you mean my "full rebuild"? Of the AOP reference model?

Can someone let me know where I can find out more about the Spring IDE updates?

I've figured out I don't want the 3.2.x ones myself from the Dependencies, since I'm on Ganymede 3.4..
When you talk about the category of resources for example, is this documentation or examples or something of this nature?
Where can I find out more about the OSGi Extenstions?
This is an area that is still a bit of a mystery to me. Something to do with classloading as far as I can tell.

I'm trying to install the Spring IDE into Eclipse 3.4. I've deselected the 3.2-specific package, and anything else that could be optional. It makes it past dependency checking, I say Yes to install everything, and then I get a dialog titled "Problem Occurred" with this text:

Any ideas?

A while ago I tried installing the Hibernate Tools into this same installation, but backed them out when they didn't work. Maybe that has some bearing on the problem.

I tried installing the Spring IDE for Eclipse from three update sites:

static.springsource.com/projects/sts-ap/update

dist.springframework.org/release/IDE

and

static.springsource.com/projects/sts-dm-server/update

but when I tried to define a new server in Eclipse, there was no SpringFramework server listed.

What did I do wrong and how can I install the tooling for Eclipse 3.4

Right now, I feel like I've been thru the ringer.

The installation proceeds, but at 58% installation I get the following error message detail:
An error occurred during provisioning.
Error reading signed content.
The file "/opt/Java-IDE/Eclipse/eclipse/features/org.springframework.ide.eclipse.ajdt.feature_2.2.1 .v200811281800" does not exist

To clarify: Eclipse is installed at: /opt/Java-IDE/Eclipse/eclipse/

I'm thinking, if I can get a copy of "org.springframework.ide.eclipse.ajdt.feature_2.2. 1.v200811281800"
then I could just drop it into my features folder and I should be OK, right?

If anyone has a better suggestion or knows where I can get this file, please respond.

Hi,

I'm getting Out of heap space trying to install Spring ide 2.2 onto 3.4. I deleted all spring plugins from eclipse and I'm point to the new software update site. I selected the core product plus the web flow add on.


The only thing in the error log is
