Default New module in sandbox: Prevayler-Template

    Hi guys,

there's a new project in Spring Modules sandbox: Prevayler-Template.

It integrates Prevayler (http://prevayler.codehaus.org/), a pure object persistence solution, into Spring, adapting it to the Spring Data Access architecture used for ORM frameworks.

    Sources: https://springmodules.dev.java.net/s...yler-template/
    PetClinic based sample app: https://springmodules.dev.java.net/s...ler-petclinic/
    An article about it: http://sbtourist.blogspot.com/2006/1...ring-ease.html

It is a new born project, so it needs a lot of feedback

    Hope you'll find it useful.

    Cheers!

I get the impression this project is dead... I hope that I am wrong.

Sergio, are you still out there? What's the roadmap for this?

    Hi,

the project is currently stalled due to lack of feedback and interest.
I'm still here but I'd like to know if there's someone actually using it: do you have any feedback about it?

    Thanks,
    Cheers,

I am not currently using it due to its non-final nature. What remains to be done in the project, how can I help, and do you expect to release it outside the sandbox at any time? Does it work with Prevayler 2.3.1?

I am interested in using Prevayler for a new project I am starting, but I'm hesitant to use something that is still in a sandbox as the underlying persistence engine of a commercial product

I would be willing to lend my support to this project if that's what it is missing.

I cannot imagine that a transparent persistence engine doesn't get any visibility in the real world. I'm almost sorry that I used MySQL in my last project as over a year later the maximum size of the database is only 30GB...

Also, have you tried using Prevayler on a Terracotta system?

Thanks, Sergio. Good to know you're still around and "active"

There's no roadmap, currently, nor any plan to put it outside of the sandbox.
If there's enough interest, I'd like to review the current implementation, make it compatible with the latest Prevayler version, and make it as stable as possible.

I haven't actually tried that, but some time ago I thought to try such an integration.
    Why are you asking?
    Are you interested?
However, we are off-topic here, so feel free to contact me by private mail if you want to talk about this kind of stuff.

One more vote for this template!

I feel like prevayler's adoption is stalled due to the lack of support so a Spring template would provide a good leverage point.

Too bad that Spring community is waiting for more adoption on prevyaler's side... kinda "chicken or egg" dilemma.

Too bad, the Spring Modules project has been closed years ago, so related modules will not be maintained anymore: obviously, you could fork and make it open source on Google Code or something like that
