LONDON, May 3 / PRNewswire / -- Interface21 today announced it has certified and will support IBM’s WebSphere(R) Application Server Community Edition (WAS CE) as a deployment platform for the Spring application development framework. Additionally, Interface21 has certified and will support the open source Apache Geronimo application server upon which WAS CE is based. Spring is the leading full-stack Java/JEE application framework from Interface21. The Spring Framework helps customers to develop high quality J2EE applications faster, through providing proven, quality solutions to common problems and facilitating best practices. “Ever since the introduction of Spring I have been able to focus on what really matters: the business focus of an enterprise application. What has previously taken numerous man-years to compose/understand and implement has been achieved in a few months using Spring” said Roland Nelson of the European Patent Office (http://ep.espacenet.com), which uses Spring in mission-critical applications supporting millions of users.
Today’s announcement represents IBM’s endorsement of Spring on WebSphere Application Server Community Edition and is another indicator of Spring's increasing momentum in enterprise Java application development.
"Certification of Spring by Interface21 on WebSphere Application Server Community Edition provides our customers with additional confidence in their decision to utilize the Spring framework to build applications”, said Scott Cosby, Gluecode transition executive, IBM WebSphere Software. Many customers and partners adopting open source application servers are looking to simplify application development and quickly build Java apps that conform to the Java standards, and Spring is a excellent option.”
"Today’s announcement is the result of ongoing work involving Interface21 engineers and the WAS CE and Geronimo teams to optimize the experience of using Spring on these platforms" said Rod Johnson, founder of the Spring Framework and CEO of Interface21, "We believe that many Spring Framework users will benefit from the option of WAS CE and Geronimo as supported deployment platforms. We also think this is great news for WebSphere customers. It confirms IBM's commitment to support customers who are interested in lightweight JEE and underlines enterprise acceptance of Spring.”
Spring is fully portable across platforms and offers support for all environments in which users want to run Spring, including all major application servers and outside of any application server.
