    Default Spring IDE WebFlow editor

    Hi,

The Spring IDE team currently developes a graphical editor for Spring WebFlow configuration files. If you want to have a first look head over to http://springide.org/project/wiki/WebFlowEditor to see the very first screenshot.

Please feel free to post any kind of feature requests to the wiki page or file a ticket at http://springide.org/project/newticket .

    Greetings

    Christian

    Cool stuff!

I'll have to give that a try once you guys have a preview release or something.

Note that the Spring Web Flow Preview 2 release is coming up this weekend!

    Hello,

I've just updated the Spring IDE WebFlow Editor Wiki page with a short description of the main features and a fresh screenshot from the development release. Have a look here: http://springide.org/project/wiki/WebFlowEditor

The Editor has been updated to support WebFlow PR2. We will release a preview version in the upcoming week.

    Greetings,
    Christian

Any chance of seeing a plugin for Intellij as well as Eclipse?

    Hello jcmailer,

currently we don't have any plans for migrating or implementing Spring IDE for Intellij. Spring IDE extensivly uses the GEF plugin as foundation for Beans Graph and Flow Editor and I don't know if there is already such an infrastructure within Intellij.

If there is anybody out here having time for some research or implementation work he or she is very much welcome.

    Greetings Christian

    Hello,

Once again I've updated the WebFlowEditor wiki page over at http://springide.org/project/wiki/WebFlowEditor . It shows the Web Flow Editor with support for the latest Spring Web Flow PR3 features.

If you have any feedback please post it either to the wiki page or to this forum.

After the upcoming weekend we plan to release a first public preview version to the developer update site.

    Greetings

    Looking good!

Just wondering: is this a straight web flow XML editor for Eclipse? Or is it more like a 'concept' tool that puts web flow editing into the context of building an entire app (like what Gaijin studio is trying to do)?

Having a plain and simple web flow XML editor (a bit like the Ant XML build file editor that comes with Eclipse) would be cool!

One other thing, is there a "source view"? I don't see one in the screenshot, but that would also be a kick-ass feature.

The Web Flow Editor is a tool designed to work on the plain web flow xml files. There are no other dependencies then having an eclipse project (java or any other) with the config files. The Editor is able to open an existing web flow definition from xml files and writes it back to the same file.

Because the Editor does not directly use the web flow config file as input you can open the xml file with your favorite XML Editor plugin. That enables you to edit your Web Flow file in the graphical editor or in the XML Editor - side by side.

The Spring IDE plugin will provide a XML Validator similar to the one shipped for the application context files that checks your inputs in the XML Editor plugin.
