Default Spring Roo 1.2.1.RELEASE available now

We are very happy to announce the availability of Spring Roo 1.2.1.RELEASE (download here). Spring Roo is a rapid application development tool for Java, allowing you to create full enterprise applications in just minutes.

1.2.1 is the first maintenance release for 1.2 and includes a number of fixes for multi-module Maven and JSF/PrimeFaces support.

Please note that to keep the distrubution size as small as possible, we are no longer packaging the reference documentation in the zip. You can find, as always, the documentation on the Spring Roo web site.

Spring Roo has a very active community and responsive development team, so if you have any questions on this new release, please feel free to ask the Spring Roo engineering team on the Community Forum. You'll also find us on Twitter - either follow @SpringRoo or just include #SpringRoo in your tweets.

We hope you enjoy this new release.

Inconsistency: The readme file references the documentation which is not longer included in the zip.

I think the documentation should be included always, because it explains the version that you're using. The online documentation is related to the last current version.

If for some reason you have to use an older version, you will need its particular instructions.

Besides, the Roo .zip file size is not that big.

    Greetings.

Not anymore. The on-line documentation will always be the current released version.

    Sorry for my bad expression.

What I meant is, someday in the future, where will I be able to find documentation for previous versions if the on-line documentation will always be the current released and from now on the .zip file won't contain its related documentation?

(I presume I've just written another awful sentence. Sorry about that)

For instance, where will be the documentation for the 1.2.1 release when the 1.3 release will get published?

You can always download the PDF. We will be adjusting the web site to have two download links, one for the binary and the other for the docs.

Images add greatly to the size of the distribution and we are planning to enhance the documentation which will more than double the size of the current zip. As new features are added the distribution will only get larger and the proportion the docs take up will be far greater than the actual software.

    These are good news.

By the way, you're doing a great job for creating a great tool.

Keep up the good work! It seems to be running snappy again.

    Question compatibility

It's hard to find release docs. What has been fixed or added in this release? Is it compatible with JRE 7?

Is there a "What's new in Roo 1.2.1" doc somewhere? All I can find is the blog post which says very little.
