JSR 311 and JAX-RS integration

I was wondering if there was any plan to migrate Spring MVC to integrate better with JSR 311 and JAX-RS annotations. I haven't really been able to find any information other than a few articles, the best of which is probably this article on using JAX-RS and Enunciate to migrate the Petclinic sample app to JAX-RS.

Will the Spring MVC REST service mapping just stay the way that it is or are there any plans to bring it into some sort of convergence or compliance with JSR 311?
