    Exclamation Cannot start tcserver (OpenSCManager failed)

    when I try to start my tcserver instance I get the following:

    -> tcruntime-ctl.bat insight-instance install

    I've googled and found this error in a number of places (with various suggestiuons), but not for tcserver

    I'm running Win7-64bit with Springsource 2.6.1 Release

    Can anyone here help me?

    The install verb attempts to install your tc Server instances as a Windows service. It looks like the user that you're using to do this doesn't have the necessary permissions.

    Hmm that's strange. I wonder what permissions are needed. I'm logged into an account that has administrator priviledges. Perhaps I have to be logged on in the "Administrator" account to do this? Sounds strange. Thanks for the help. This seems consistent with what I've seen of this error from other products, but I still can't figure out a resolution.

    I also get the same error when I try and start a tcserver instance (without trying to install it as a windows service

    I had the same problem and used "Run as administrator" option to start my command prompt and my IDE.
