Hey Guys,

I am new to Spring and trying to install STS.

springsource-tool-suite-2.5.2.SR1-e3.6.2-win32-installer.exe

http://dist.springsource.com/release/TOOLS/update/e3.6 -- > is giving an error as HTTP 403 Forbidden error..

Could some one please help me?

I am not sure why you are trying to access that URL (does it happen while running the installer?!?). What are you doing to get this 403 error?

As update site from within STS you can use:
http://download.springsource.com/rel...LS/update/e3.6

Hi Syam,

Just to make sure...the link http://dist.springsource.com/release/TOOLS/update/e3.6 will not work if you browse to it, but it does point to a legitimate update site. You must paste this URL into the STS update manager (and I believe that it is already in there by default).

The update manager will be able to read the update site even though your browser will not. Does this answer your question?

Thanks for your responses.. actually what I was trying is I installed STS, and as part of the installation, the update software from Sprinsource..

I uploaded the bookmarks.xml and when i do update software from help.. where it's giving me an error.. here is the error message :

this is the error I am getting for both sites.. dist/download..

Any Idea what's going on here?

Ah...it looks like you are behind a firewall. It is always tricky to use the installer from behind a firewall. Instead of using the .exe installer, I'd recommend downloading the zip of STS for windows. This version is exactly the same as the exe version, except all the pieces are downloaded at once.

Once installed, it may be possible to bypass the firewall if you can configure a proxy correctly. Go to STS -> Preferences -> General -> Network Connections.
