Data is stored for different purpose in the forms of metadata, transactional data, master data and historical data.

NoSQL provides the solution for analytical problems and the active data.
NoSQL and object based data bases like GemFire provide a good solution to query or access data in the form of key-value.

Now the industry is providing solutions to all the data base management problems in a consolidated and convergent approach, thanks to virtualization-cloud computing and social networking.

May be there are a problems that are not completely solved or may be expensive in a given approach.

Believe,VmWare SpringData will be able to solve all the problems at half the cost.
