I hit the same problem and I solved it by manually deleting the 1.6x version of groovy from the plugins folder of STS.
I have no idea why STS installs both the 1.7 and the 1.6 version of groovy...

I have got the 1.1.0M2 version of ROO and...
I have got the 1.1.0M2 version of ROO and successfully ran a simple GWT application. When I tried to move my app to GWT/ROO I realized that roo+ GWT doesnt support parent-child relationship. FWOOOOP!
