Not using client cert to bind Active Directory on ldaps

Hello,

Is it possible to not use client cert to bind to AD 2003 through ldaps to change user password?

I could do update the password through ldaps by using ldap admin software too.

Can I do the same on writing spring ldap code? I found that I cannot connect the AD server through ldaps if not using certificate.
