Basic question about the usage of Spring

I am a new user of Spring. Most of the doc suggests using Spring to enforce MVC in web apps. I am developing an application with a Swing UI.
We will be using Spring on the server side as an alternative to stateless session bean facades and for our persistence layer.
What are your feelings about using Spring on the client side to promote/enforce MVC?
