Overall the Spring documentation is excellent. I have one suggestion, which could help out - has anyone considered using DTDDoc http://dtddoc.sourceforge.net/ to generate a browsable version of the spring-beans.dtd ? The DTD is nicely commented, but reading it can be a bit tedious; I've used DTDDoc (which has an ANT task) w/ some custom DTDs in the past and have been generally pleased with the results.
