View Full Version : Stickies to explain the basics?

Just a suggestion -
maybe there could be stickies in the main forums with some explanation of the relevant technologies.

They could of course just be links elsewhere, but it could reduce repetition of questions.

In fact; the common questions could be listed (with answers of course).

A Spring FAQ might be useful? Any votes for this?

I thought there is already the wiki?! Personally, I would die for a Spring FAQ similar to the eclipsefaq.org. Would save us from most of the repeating forum questions, I guess.

Or something similar to the hibernate wiki... . Anyway, you have my vote, where should I sign?

There is an FAQ on Wiki (http://opensource.atlassian.com/confluence/spring/display/DOC/FAQ), but nobody seems to be maintaining it at this point.

yep, both the links (for docs and demo) at the top of that are dead.

also those 'F'AQs don't exactly cover the basics.

And you didn't fix the link :)

I modified the documentation link to point to the url at the new site and I removed the link to the demo page since that doesn't exists on the new site.

I don't think this wiki FAQ has been advertised enough - maybe we could put a sticky message on top of each forum with a link to the wiki FAQ.

hmm, good point - I guess I wasn't thinking-wiki!

Hehe, this is a nice speech: "I wasn't thinking wiki!" - It is worth to be remembered I guess.

So to summarize things: We would like to have a well maintained wiki resource serving as a FAQ and Best Practice resource, which is present all over the place in the forum to avoid repeative questions and more importantly, allow a smoother and more productive way of working with Spring.

I guess, we all like to keep things started. (except the single No voter of cause ;-)) Since everythings starts with a plan, we will need one... .

Cheers,
